Gwendolyn Lane
Since its inception, Gwendolyn Lane has served as the Church Clerk/Secretary of Beth TeHillah Ministries.
Born and reared in Sanford, Fla., after graduating high school, she enlisted in the U.S. Army, where she worked as an Administrative Assistant.
Upon her return to Florida, she was employed as a Clerk Typist for the State of Florida Department of Family and Children Services and the Seminole County CETA Program. She also worked for the Seminole County Personnel Department in this role.
Ms. Lane is a trailblazer for African Americans in Seminole County. Among her career accomplishments were notable firsts:
- First Black Female Police Officer, City of Sanford, Florida
- First Black Probation Officer, Seminole County Probation Department
- First Black Probation Officer Supervisor, Seminole County Probation Department
- First Black Probation Manager, Seminole County Probation Department
But she says her greatest accomplishment was accepting Jesus Christ.
A three-time survivor of cancer and overcomer, Ms. Lane attended and graduated from Bethune-Cookman College in 1988. She retired as a manager with the Seminole County Probation Department in 1995.
She is the proud mother of three adult children, and grandmother of five and great grandmother of five children.
