God is the source of LOVE- root, origin, author creator. (1 John 4:7)
God is the standard of LOVE- example, epitome, essence, embodiment (1 John 4:8, 16)
God gives the specifications of LOVE – description, definition, diagnosis (1 John 5:3; 2 John 6; John 14:15, 21, 23, 24; John 15:10)

I. Love is Sacrificial: Willing to suffer

• LOVE promotes others/ move forward (1 John 4:9)
• LOVE propitiates for others/forgives (1 John 4:10; 1 John 2:1,2; Romans 5:8)
• LOVE prefers to others/ favor (John 10:11,15,17,18; John 15:13; John 3:16)
